Rockman Blues

At the base of a base, beat it level by level
Turning robots into rubble, take the trash out for my trouble
Double take, a mistake, the blue bravo burst the bubble
Double standard in the morals twixt the good and the evil
Shine the light, upon Wiley, bring the doctor to his knees
The degrees of my feats have him hiding 'hind machines
I turn mean, hulk out green, a leaf shield's now my screen
It's the barrier that parries while I scuttle Wiley's scheme
I get stronger at the fall of all the robots I defeat
Any longer and I know I'll be the unstoppable beast
Right or wrong I see my fate in every one of them I vanquish
The same song as the last time, now I feel the anguish
Cuz the story heard from Proto Man got me singin' the Blues
Designed to be a hero but I find I'm being used
No I'm not another zero, but I don't know what to choose
When the wages of my victory mean I'm the one who'll lose
I refuse to fall to evil but I know this much is true
When your brothers are the villains the real enemy is you
Black and blue not flesh and bone
Wire and Metal I stand alone
You look to me for salvation
But I've got no soul of my own
Nothing more than the sum of my parts
Electric eyes and an iron heart
You think I'm here to unite you
But it's tearing this hero apart
It's my mantle to dismantle, obligation to destroy
Heroism hardwired, beneath blue alloy
With few tricks up my sleeve and a dog in my employ
Obliterate my opposition often though they do deploy
Just a thin blue line between chaos and humanity
Do I count as man or metal, is the very though insanity
Why must I always be the clout that curbs their cruel calamity
If robots are the enemy how do I claim indemnity
Is this my programming, or is it my will
That is making the decision every time that I kill
Is there righteousness within these metal boots that I fill
Will there ever be a time where my right arm can lay still
My passion for aggression burns away within this crucible
When murder is mechanical then every thing's disposable
I'm forced to fell my foes, but my circuitry is skeptical
My crusades through this life are repetitive and cyclical
Got a shot from a Pharaoh, an attack from a Gyro
Was the Top Man in the day, spinning out like a tornado
Here I stand in a Shadow staring down a Homing Sniper
Wild Coil to the Snake Man takes the fangs out of the viper
I throw out a Crash Bomb and now your concrete is cracked
When I'm done carving on wood you'll see my slash claw retract
I enact robot justice, take you down, it's a must
Electric sparks fade away as I crush you into dust
Hard Knuckle up power arm destroying Guts Tractor
Dive Missile down on Splash Woman, then I'm gonna smack her
With a Centaur Flash, Star Crash, breaking Bubble Lead
Down on Skull Man, Toukotsu-san, make him double-dead
I've conquered so many copies, powered down so many drones
Not a body left to bury melt the scrap that was their bones
Knight Cutter, Flame Sword, I'm a posatronic paladin
Wind storm pulls up the Tempest, and I'm left playing Calaban
Not a man, not a hero, now it's time to end the lie
A soulless cybernetic slayer am I
Black and blue not flesh and bone
Wire and Metal I stand alone
You look to me for salvation
But I've got no soul of my own
Nothing more than the sum of my parts
Electric eyes and an iron heart
You think I'm here to unite you
But it's tearing this hero apart
